Focus and Key Principles of Working with me as your Literary Agent and Submissions Guidelines

Having worked in the industry as an editor and writing mentor for the past seven years I am now turning my focus and attention in further supporting authors find their dream publisher. I am also a published author and have experience of both self-publishing, traditional publishing and hybrid publishing.

In so doing…

I am happy to share my knowledge and expertise to help you make an informed decision about your writing career and author journey.

I am transparent and offer open communication which is supportive and respectful of the work you submit to me for review.

I give timely and a professional level of feedback which will endeavour to elaborate on my thoughts based on the manuscript submitted.

From the outset, I will offer an honest opinion on the level of editing which may be needed for the story to be industry and publisher-ready for querying with a publisher.

You can be assured of ongoing support throughout the entire process.

I work ethically and assure you of complete confidentiality.

I would like to especially work with new and emerging writers.

I prioritise good writing on the line, but for a novel to really keep me company it must have more than good sentences. I look for novels of scale that immerse the reader, whether that be through a perspective I’ve not encountered, a gripping central mystery or a high-stakes relationship dynamic, or in a particular place, community or moment in history. It would also be exciting next year to work on some quality crime writing.

I’ve long wanted to discover a love story with the passion and elegance of Anat Talshir’s About the Night

The genres I am particularly interested in include: Romance, Rom-Com, Contemporary Fiction, Period Drama, Family Sagas, Thrillers, Crime Fiction and Memoir as well as Story-focused Non-Fiction.

I am especially looking for romance reads with an edge, thrilling period dramas that push the boundaries of the genre to something new and exciting. I enjoy stories which tell me something from a different perspective or point of view or which turn the usual into something quite unusual. I like characters who are flawed yet likeable and who show us how life can sometimes be messy. Show me a thriller which has me not only rooting for the victim but which makes me feel something for their kidnapper. I love countryside descriptions and pages which pull me into the scene as if I am there and derive much enjoyment from narratives which delight.

Books I have read recently:

  • Girl A by Abigail Dean
  • You Me Everything by Catherine Isaac
  • The Borrow A Bookshop Holiday by Kiley Dunbar
  • A Song For Kitty by Angela Cairns
  • Cypria by Alex Christofi
  • Three Women by Lisa Taddeo
  • The Buddha of Suburbia by Hanif Kasheiri
